30 tiny ways to be an activist today

You don’t need a megaphone, a massive platform, or endless free time to make change. Activism isn’t only marches and petitions - it’s also the quiet, daily choices that slowly shift culture. Here are 30 tiny, doable ways to be an activist today, even if you’re tired, busy, or overwhelmed.

🌱 Everyday Actions

  1. Read one article from a source outside your usual bubble.

  2. Fact-check before you repost - even if it supports your beliefs.

  3. Correct misinformation kindly (or privately) instead of shaming.

  4. De-centre productivity as a moral value.

  5. Tip a little extra if you can.

  6. Ask who’s missing from the conversation.

  7. Use people’s correct names and pronouns, and learn how to pronounce someone’s name properly.

  8. Add one extra item to your shopping list each week and donate it to the food bank collection (tinned goods and nappies/diapers are always a safe bet).

  9. Choose reusable over disposable once today.

  10. Talk to kids honestly about fairness and empathy.

📣 Use Your Voice (Softly or Loudly)

  1. Share a post from someone directly affected by an issue.

  2. Amplify — don’t centre yourself.

  3. Check boycott lists and find a local or independent alternative where possible.

  4. Call in, not just call out.

  5. Leave a thoughtful comment instead of scrolling past.

  6. Say “that’s not okay” when it’s safe to do so.

  7. Email a representative or politician — even a short note counts.

  8. Sign a petition and share it with 3 of your friends.

  9. Vote with your attention: don’t engage with rage bait.

  10. Normalise changing your mind publicly.

💛 Care as Resistance

  1. Rest - burnout helps no movement.

  2. Drink water. Eat food. You’re part of the work.

  3. Donate money if you can, even a single pound/dollar adds up.

  4. Unfollow accounts that drain you or normalise harm.

  5. Check in on someone who’s hurting.

  6. Believe people when they tell you their experience.

  7. Apologise without defensiveness.

  8. Be someone's joy buddy - check in regularly to make sure you're both taking care of yourselves.

  9. Practice hope - it’s a discipline.

  10. Keep going, even imperfectly.
